Senate Commerce Committee schedules executive session to consider nominations and legislation

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, has scheduled a full committee executive session for Wednesday, October 8, 2025. The meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time in the Committee Hearing Room at Russell 253.

The agenda includes consideration of several nominations and legislative items. The committee will review the nomination of Harry Kumar from New York for Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs; Joyce Meyer from Virginia for Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs; and Seval Oz from California for Assistant Secretary of Transportation for Research and Technology.

Legislation to be considered includes S. 1070 (National STEM Week Act), S. 2126 (Integrated Ocean Observation System Reauthorization Act of 2025), S. 2245 (Digital Coast Act), S. 2357 (Young Fishermen’s Development Extension Act), S. 2563 (Global Investment in American Jobs Act of 2025), S. 2666 (Foreign Robocall Elimination Act), and the PIPELINE Safety Act of 2025.

Senator Cruz stated that the agenda is subject to change.

Following the executive session, there will be a full committee hearing. The event will be livestreamed on both the Committee website and YouTube.
