In a series of tweets, Rep. Chip Roy, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’s 21st District, shared his views on government spending, voter eligibility, and environmental policies. Rep. Roy, a lawmaker with a background in economics and law, addressed these topics during an interview and subsequent online statements.
On April 29, 2025, Rep. Chip Roy emphasized the necessity of reducing government spending during an appearance on Breitbart News Daily with host Slater Radio. He expressed the intent to achieve a “total package that gets tax cuts” while consistently adhering to fiscal restraint, stating, “We’ve got to reduce spending, and we hope we’ll get the get the job done with a total package that gets tax cuts, the thing that we want to deliver on, but we’ve got to reduce spending.”
Later that day, Rep. Roy articulated his stance on voting rights in another tweet, arguing that only American citizens should be allowed to vote in U.S. elections. This position was shared in light of recent legislative efforts, as he remarked, “The bottom line is, only American citizens should vote in American elections. We ought to fix that. The SAVE Act’s one way to do it. The President’s right to try to do it by executive order,” indicating support for the SAVE Act and executive actions.
His next post highlighted opposition to certain environmental policies. Roy criticized mandates related to electric vehicles (EVs), addressing concerns about reliance on foreign powers and manufacturing conditions. He expressed these views by saying, “The fact of the matter is, my colleagues on the other side of the aisle want to parade around EV mandates like they’re somehow going to magically create power out of thin air, ignoring the fact we’re empowering China, ignore the fact we’re empowering Chinese child”.
Rep. Chip Roy, who, since 2019, has represented Texas’s 21st District following the tenure of Lamar Smith, continues to advocate for policies aligned with his beliefs, shaped by his background and tenure in Congress.
