Rep. Chip Roy, representing Texas’ 21st district in the U.S. Congress, has recently communicated a series of statements addressing issues related to immigration and foreign policy. Roy has been an active voice in Congress since he took over from Lamar Smith in 2019. His recent statements focus on matters relating to border security, national strength, and reliance on foreign adversaries.

In a tweet dated April 16, 2025, Rep. Chip Roy highlighted an issue of criminal activity involving illegal immigration. He wrote, “He’s from El Salvador. He’s a criminal illegal alien. He’s a confirmed MS-13 gang member.” This statement reflects his ongoing concern regarding illegal immigration and related criminal activities.

On April 17, 2025, Roy emphasized the importance of law enforcement agencies in maintaining public safety under new administrative changes. He commented, “Under new leadership, our hardworking ICE agents are finally allowed to finally do their job and clean up our streets from criminal aliens without Biden-Harris bearing down on them.” Roy expressed his approval of the changes, encouraging continued efforts.

The same day, Rep. Roy also addressed economic and national security issues related to dependency on foreign powers. He stated, “If we want to preserve our strength and freedom as a nation, we cannot rely on adversaries like the Chinese Communist Party to keep our shelves stocked and our economy prosperous.” This statement underscores his position on reducing reliance on foreign entities for economic stability.

Chip Roy, born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972, graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1994, and earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas-Austin in 2003. He currently resides in Austin.
