Rep. Chip Roy Press Office, the official communication channel for Congressman Chip Roy of Texas’ 21st district, recently shared a series of tweets addressing various political issues. These tweets reflect Rep. Roy’s views on Medicaid reform, border security under President Trump, and the legislative responsibilities of Congress.
On May 8, 2025, Rep. Roy addressed Medicaid reform by stating “You shouldn’t get more on Medicaid than Medicare. You shouldn’t be able to qualify if you’re ineligible, for example, if you’re illegal or if you’re not qualified under the program. If you can work that you should work and that you shouldn’t get”. This statement underscores his stance on eligibility criteria and the work requirements associated with Medicaid benefits.
In another tweet posted shortly after, he quoted Tom Homan saying “.@RealTomHoman: “No one has done more than President Trump to secure this nation.” Successful border policies = A safer and sovereign America.” The message emphasizes support for former President Trump’s efforts towards securing national borders as part of maintaining sovereignty.
Later that day, Rep. Roy expressed frustration with Congress through another tweet urging action: “For once, Congress should stop procrastinating, using excuses, and finally fulfill the Republican agenda.” His call suggests an urgency in legislative processes aligned with Republican goals.
Chip Roy is currently serving his constituents from Texas’ 21st district since replacing Lamar Smith in 2019. Born in Bethesda in 1972 and residing in Austin now at age 50; he holds degrees from both University of Virginia (BS) and University of Texas-Austin (JD).
