On June 14, 2025, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) managed a protest that took place at the Texas State Capitol and Downtown Austin. In coordination with the Austin Police Department (APD), several arrests were made to ensure safety for both demonstrators and the public.

The protest commenced at around 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Texas State Capitol grounds. As evening approached, the Capitol grounds closed, prompting demonstrators to march through Downtown Austin, including the 46-square-block Texas Capitol Complex area under DPS protection. During their response, DPS personnel arrested nine individuals on charges such as felony assault of a peace officer and resisting arrest.

The arrested individuals were taken to Travis County Jail.

In addition to making arrests, DPS officers utilized pepper spray, PAVA powder, and a taser for maintaining order and ensuring officer safety. Though specific operational details remain undisclosed, DPS highlighted its collaboration with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners—including APD—to safeguard citizens and state property while protecting constitutional rights related to assembly and free speech.
