Texas women’s golf junior Lauren Kim qualified on Apr. 28 for her third U.S. Women’s Open after competing at a qualifier held at Rainier Golf & Country Club in Seattle.
Kim, who is ranked No. 15 among amateur players worldwide, earned a place in the 81st U.S. Women’s Open scheduled for June 4-7 at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California.
She previously played in the national championship event in both 2022 and 2023, competing at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club and Pebble Beach respectively. At the recent Seattle qualifier, Kim achieved medalist honors by posting rounds of two-under-par 70 and four-under-par 68, finishing with a six-under total of 138.
In collegiate competition this season, Kim has recorded three top-10 finishes over her last four events and finished tied for twelfth at the SEC Championship. She was runner-up at the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate and took seventh place at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate as part of a team victory for Texas. Additionally, she recently participated in her third Augusta National Women’s Amateur and represented Canada last year at both the Palmer Cup and World Amateur Team Championship.
The Texas Longhorns will have representation among amateur players at the U.S. Women’s Open for a fifth consecutive year.
