Governor Greg Abbott has extended his congratulations to the City of Grapevine for achieving the status of a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community. This designation, awarded by Travel Texas, acknowledges Grapevine’s efforts in promoting tourism as a key economic strategy and aims to boost local job creation while attracting visitors from across the country and globally.

Governor Abbott highlighted the importance of tourism to both local and state economies, stating that “Travelers to and within Texas generate almost $200 billion in annual economic impact and support 1.3 million jobs across the state.” He commended Grapevine and its Convention & Visitors Bureau for earning this recognition, encouraging other Texas communities to pursue similar certification to enhance local tourism and employment opportunities.

Tim Fennell, Director of Travel Texas, praised Grapevine for its diverse attractions, saying it offers “something for every kind of traveler,” from lakefront recreation to unique shopping experiences. He noted that being named a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community reflects Grapevine’s dedication to providing memorable visitor experiences.

Senator Tan Parker acknowledged Grapevine’s commitment to excellence in tourism, emphasizing how the city showcases the best of Texas through its Main Street charm and world-class resorts. Representative Giovanni Capriglione expressed pride in the community’s recognition for promoting tourism and strengthening the local economy.

Paul W. McCallum, Executive Director of the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, stated that this recognition affirms their commitment to hospitality. Councilman Leon Leal echoed this sentiment by highlighting how residents and businesses work together to create a welcoming environment for visitors.

Joe Szymaszek, General Manager of Grapevine Mills and Chair of the CVB Board of Directors, remarked on how community members collaborate to offer exceptional experiences annually. The Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community program is open to local governments or non-profit organizations focused on tourism promotion. It offers benefits such as strengthening relationships crucial for tourism development and educating leaders on tourism’s significance.
