Governor Greg Abbott has signed into law over 300 bills from the 89th Regular Legislative Session, bringing the total to more than 600 bills enacted. Governor Abbott stated, “Texas is where the American dream lives. Today, I signed critical legislation passed in the 89th Regular Legislative Session that protects the safety of Texans and safeguards the individual freedoms that our great state was founded on. Working with the Texas Legislature, we will keep Texas the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”

The Governor is still reviewing more than 1,200 bills delivered by the Texas Legislature. The period for signing or vetoing these bills continues through Sunday, June 22.

Among the 334 bills signed today are several key pieces of legislation:

– House Bill 18 enhances access to rural health care.
– House Bill 27 mandates a personal financial literacy course for high school students.
– House Bill 35 establishes a peer network for first responder mental health.
– House Bill 40 expands jurisdiction for business courts.
– House Bill 1397 transfers custody of important historical documents to the State Preservation Board.
– House Bill 3000 creates grants for rural ambulance services.

Several Senate Bills were also signed:

– Senate Bill 10 requires classrooms to display the Ten Commandments.
– Senate Bill 11 allows voluntary prayer and religious text reading in schools.
– Senate Bill 17 restricts land purchases by foreign adversaries.
– Senate Bill 31 ensures physician response in medical emergencies under abortion restrictions.
– Senate Bill 34 funds wildfire management and firefighting equipment databases.
– Senate Bill 36 streamlines homeland security activities within certain entities.
– Senate Bill 75 establishes a Grid Security Commission for ERCOT grid hazards.
– Senate Bill 667 prohibits investments in certain Chinese-affiliated entities by state retirement systems.
– Senate Bill 835 nullifies nondisclosure agreements related to sexual abuse disclosure (Trey’s Law).
– Senate Bill 1300 increases penalties for organized retail theft.
