Governor Greg Abbott has instructed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to request that Coke, Concho, and Williamson counties be included in President Donald J. Trump’s Major Disaster Declaration. This follows severe flooding that has affected various communities across Texas.

“To help Texans continue to recover and rebuild from the devastating flooding, I requested that Coke, Concho, and Williamson counties be added to President Trump’s Major Disaster Declaration,” said Governor Abbott. “I thank President Trump and his Administration for their ongoing assistance during our state’s response and recovery process. The State of Texas will continue to ensure that every affected community receives the support they need to recover and rebuild.”

Damage assessments in these counties have surpassed federal criteria for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Public Assistance program. This program offers aid for emergency work and repairs or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities. More counties may be added as further information becomes available.

Governor Abbott is actively working to provide resources needed by local officials responding to the floods. Initiatives include announcing up to $5 million in funding through the Texas Micro-Business Disaster Recovery Loan Program and over $1.9 million in grant funding for hospitals in Kerrville and Llano impacted by recent floods.

He has also toured flood damage sites in Leander, updated on response efforts in Central Texas, received approval for federal disaster assistance for more communities, requested additional counties be added to the Presidential Disaster Declaration, visited with impacted residents alongside President Trump in Kerrville, launched a new Texas Flooding Emotional Support Line, announced disaster unemployment assistance due to flood impacts, surveyed damaged areas, increased readiness levels at the State Operations Center, activated additional state emergency response resources ahead of potential heavy rainfall threats in West and Central Texas.
