Governor Greg Abbott has instructed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to request federal disaster assistance for Coke, Concho, and Williamson counties. This request follows recent severe flooding in Texas and seeks to include these counties in President Donald J. Trump’s Major Disaster Declaration.
“To help Texans continue to recover and rebuild from the devastating flooding, I requested that Coke, Concho, and Williamson counties be added to President Trump’s Major Disaster Declaration,” said Governor Abbott. “I thank President Trump and his Administration for their ongoing assistance during our state’s response and recovery process. The State of Texas will continue to ensure that every affected community receives the support they need to recover and rebuild.”
The damage assessments for these counties meet the criteria set by the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Public Assistance program. This program offers aid for emergency work as well as repair or replacement of facilities damaged by disasters. Additional counties may be considered based on new information.
Governor Abbott is actively working to provide resources for local officials dealing with flood impacts. Measures include:
– Up to $5 million available through the Texas Micro-Business Disaster Recovery Loan Program.
– Over $1.9 million in grants for hospitals in Kerrville and Llano affected by floods.
– Touring flood-damaged areas like Leander.
– Requesting additional counties be included in the Presidential Disaster Declaration.
– Visiting impacted areas with President Trump.
– Launching a new Texas Flooding Emotional Support Line.
– Announcing disaster unemployment assistance related to flood impacts.
Governor Abbott is also overseeing state responses such as increasing readiness levels at the State Operations Center and deploying emergency resources ahead of anticipated rainfall and flooding threats.
