Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Jerry Dan Davis, Mike Sandefur, and Joe L. Ward to the Red River Authority of Texas Board of Directors. Their terms will conclude on August 11, 2029. The Authority is responsible for managing and developing the watershed and the waters of the Red River and its Texas tributaries.
Jerry Dan Davis, a resident of Wellington, owns and operates a farm and ranch across Collingsworth, Childress, and Hall counties. Davis is actively involved in the Panhandle Peanut Growers Board, Farmers Co-Op Gin Board, and the Collingsworth County Agricultural Board. His past contributions include roles on the Wellington ISD School Board and the Collingsworth County Library Board. Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in General Agriculture from West Texas A&M University.
Mike Sandefur from New Boston is the CEO of Loblolly Land Company, Barkman Creek Land Company, and Barkman Bluff Farms. His community service includes membership on the Texarkana College Foundation board, past presidency of the Texarkana College Board of Trustees, the Sulphur River Basin River Authority Board of Directors, and former leadership in the Financial Advisory Committee of Bowie County. Sandefur is also on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army in Texarkana. He earned a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Accounting, and a Master of Business and Public Management, all from Rice University.
Joe L. Ward, residing in Telephone, manages a Red Angus/Santa Gertrudis cow-calf operation at Bar S Ranch. He is a co-founder of the Fannin County Multi-Purpose Complex, a Telephone Volunteer Fire Department volunteer, and a director at the Bigbee Cemetery. His involvement extends to the Telephone Baptist Church. Ward has previous experience as a gubernatorial appointee to the State Soil and Water Conservation Board and has served on the Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He has military experience with the Army National Guard (1969–1971) and the Air National Guard (1971–1976). Ward graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University.
