On Saturday, Governor Greg Abbott participated in an event in Ingram, Texas, where he joined the Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund to present $25,000 checks to over 60 families affected by the recent Hill Country floods. The assistance aims to support those who experienced severe storm damage or lost their homes during the flooding.

“This is a down payment to help you begin to put your lives back together,” said Governor Abbott. “Our goal is to put you on a strong, immediate beginning to make sure you can get back to having a permanent roof over your head.”

The funding for these relief checks comes from last month’s “Strait to the Heart” benefit concert. Governor Abbott had called on attendees at the event to help Texans facing hardship after the floods. The concert was hosted by musician George Strait and Estancia Estates Founder Tom Cusick and raised more than $6 million for flood victims.

Coverage of the check presentation appeared in multiple media outlets across Texas, highlighting both the distribution of funds and the collaborative efforts behind the benefit concert.
