Governor Greg Abbott has expanded the disaster declaration for Texas, adding five counties—Hamilton, Lampasas, Maverick, Sutton, and Uvalde—following severe flooding. This update brings the total number of affected counties to 26.
“Texas is working to quickly rebuild impacted communities and help Texas families recover,” stated Governor Abbott. He also announced that three additional counties have been added to President Donald Trump’s Major Disaster Declaration. “I thank local, state, and federal responders and volunteers for their hard work and coordination to help restore communities across Texas.”
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved a request from Texas to include Coke, Concho, and Williamson counties in President Trump’s Major Disaster Declaration. These counties now qualify for FEMA’s Public Assistance program alongside Burnet, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, San Saba, Tom Green counties.
Texans in Burnet, Kerr, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis and Williamson counties remain eligible for FEMA’s Individual Assistance program. Applications can be submitted online at disasterassistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362.
Governor Abbott is taking several actions to provide resources for flood response including announcing SNAP hot food eligibility for 26 more counties and securing $5 million through the Texas Micro-Business Disaster Recovery Loan Program. Over $1.9 million in grants are allocated to hospitals in Kerrville and Llano affected by floods.
Further measures include launching the Texas Flooding Emotional Support Line and coordinating with President Trump on federal assistance efforts. The state continues its response with increased readiness levels at the State Operations Center as more rain is anticipated.
