Governor Greg Abbott has officially designated May 4-10, 2025, as Small Business Week in Texas. This proclamation acknowledges the crucial role small businesses play in job creation and the state’s economy.
“Small businesses are the very backbone of the strong Texas economy,” Governor Abbott stated. “With more than 3 million small businesses employing nearly half of the Texas workforce, Texas is a top state for innovation, job creation, and economic prosperity.” To further support small business growth, Governor Abbott recently signed into law Texas DOGE, establishing the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office. This new office aims to reduce regulations and maintain Texas as a favorable environment for businesses.
The Governor’s Office of Small Business Assistance provides various resources for entrepreneurs in Texas. These include the Governor’s Small Business Handbook, Resource Portal, Business Licenses & Permits Guide, and Webinar Library. The office also hosts Small Business Summits across the state to facilitate networking and advice sharing among business owners.
Governor Abbott also highlighted recent accolades for Texas’ business environment. Last week, Chief Executive magazine ranked Texas as the Best State for Business for the 21st consecutive year. Additionally, Site Selection magazine awarded Texas with the 2025 Prosperity Cup for attracting new business investments.
