Governor Greg Abbott has declared May 12-16, 2025, as Economic Development Week in Texas. This announcement highlights the significant role of economic development organizations at various levels in boosting the state’s economy, creating jobs, and improving Texans’ quality of life.
“Texas is where the future is building — where opportunity is abundant, where free enterprise flourishes, and where families and jobs grow,” stated Governor Abbott. He emphasized that Texas’ success in economic development stems from teamwork among organizations statewide to attract new businesses and investments while supporting existing companies.
Recently, Texas was named the Best State for Business for the 21st consecutive year by Chief Executive magazine. The state also received the 2025 Prosperity Cup from Site Selection magazine for attracting new business investments, earning it the “Triple Crown Trophy” for having the best economy in the nation. Governor Abbott has also unveiled a five-year strategic plan aimed at continued economic growth and job creation across Texas.
The Governor’s Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office (EDT) plays a crucial role in promoting Texas as a leading business location and travel destination both nationally and internationally. EDT collaborates with various communities and economic development organizations to maintain Texas as an ideal place to live, work, and visit.
