Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Kristi Davis and James B. Goodwin to the Texas Real Estate Commission, with their terms set to conclude on January 31, 2031. Alongside these appointments, Abbott has named Mark Woodroof as the chair of the board. The commission’s primary role is to safeguard public interests in interactions with real estate brokers and salespersons.

Kristi Davis, hailing from Carrollton, is a real estate broker and serves as vice president of sales and agent development at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty Texas. She also holds the position of president on the Board of Directors for North Texas Real Estate Information Services and is involved with both the Texas Real Estate Research Center Advisory Committee and the Texas Real Estate Teachers Association. Her past roles include serving on boards for MetroTex Association of REALTORS, Texas REALTORS, and the National Association of REALTORS. Davis earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Relations from the University of North Texas.

James B. Goodwin from Austin owns JBGoodwin REALTORS where he works as a real estate broker. He previously served as a board member and chairman for the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. His affiliations include membership in the National Association of REALTORS, with previous directorships at both Texas REALTORS and Austin Board of REALTORS. Goodwin holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

Mark Woodroof, based in Houston, is CEO at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene. He has been active within leadership roles across several organizations including the National Association of REALTORS, Texas REALTORS, and Houston Association of REALTORS; he is also part of the Real Estate Business Institute. Woodroof received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Houston followed by an MBA in Finance from the University of St. Thomas.

These appointments await confirmation by the Senate.
