Governor Greg Abbott has made appointments to the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), including naming a new chair. Curtis Ford, Aden Lasseter, Mark Mayo, and reappointed members Robert “Bobby” Lewis and Margaret “Meg” Voelter will serve terms until February 1, 2031. Stephen F. “Steve” Cooper has been named chair of the board, serving at the Governor’s pleasure.

The LCRA plays a key role in delivering electricity, managing water supply and environment, providing public recreation areas, and supporting community and economic development in the Lower Colorado River Basin.

Curtis Ford, based in Austin, is the founder and CEO of Media Choice, LLC. He is licensed by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy and serves on the executive board of The Salvation Army. Ford holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from West Texas A&M University.

Aden Lasseter from Round Mountain owns Lasseter Properties and Wildlife, is a majority owner of Inner Space Cavern, and co-owns Caveman Wildlife. He is involved with the Exotic Wildlife Association, the Texas Regional Bank Advisory Board, and others. Lasseter earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Baylor University.

Mark Mayo, now retired, previously served as City Manager for Luling and New Boston. He was on the boards of TexAmericas Center and Four States Community Health Center and is affiliated with the First Baptist Church in Luling. Mayo holds an Applied Science degree from Ranger College.

Robert “Bobby” Lewis of Elgin, was president of Elgin Veterinary Hospital, Inc. before retiring in 2020. He is associated with various veterinary and equine organizations. Lewis obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Margaret “Meg” Voelter, based in Austin, has volunteered extensively and worked as an adjunct professor and attorney. She’s involved with several advisory and banking boards. Voelter attained a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from The University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor degree from Baylor University School of Law.

Stephen F. “Steve” Cooper owns Emerald Ag Investments and TeSodCo, LTD. He is involved in various boards, including the West Wharton County Hospital District and Texas A&M University councils. Cooper was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus in 2015 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University.

These appointments await Senate confirmation.
