Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Gary Young as the judge of the 62nd Judicial District Court, which serves Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, and Lamar Counties. Young’s term is set to end on December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Gary Young currently holds the position of Lamar County & District Attorney. His previous experience includes serving as an assistant district attorney in both Harris and Collin County District Attorney’s Offices. He is affiliated with the State Bar of Texas and the Texas District County Attorney’s Association.

In addition to his legal career, Young is active in community service. He is the capital campaign chair for the Boys and Girls Club of Red River Valley and has held leadership roles in various organizations including president positions at the Rotary Club of Paris, Paris Education Foundation, Downtown Food Pantry, and Lamar County Coalition of Business and Industry.

Young’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from The University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law.
