Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the next Governor’s Small Business Summit will take place in Big Lake on August 21, 2025. The event is part of a series held throughout the year in various regions across Texas, aiming to provide small business owners and entrepreneurs with access to resources and information for starting and growing their businesses.

“Small businesses are the cornerstone of our vibrant communities and the driving force behind Texas’ thriving economy,” said Governor Abbott. “With more than 3.5 million small businesses across Texas, employing nearly half of all working Texans, our state continues to lead in job creation and business expansion. I invite all small business owners and entrepreneurs to attend this Governor’s Small Business Summit or one in their region. Together, we will ensure that our small business community continues to thrive as we build a stronger, more prosperous Texas.”

The summit in Big Lake will bring together local, state, and federal partners to discuss key topics relevant to small businesses. Attendees will have opportunities to network with other business owners and meet experts offering advice on a range of subjects.

The event is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Reagan County Community Building located at 1305 N. Montana Ave., Big Lake, TX 76932. Panel sessions include discussions on entrepreneurship, strategies for growth using state and local programs, and workforce development.

Joe Esparza, Commissioner Representing Employers from the Texas Workforce Commission, will be the featured speaker.

Registration costs $20 and includes access to all sessions, resource providers, lunch, and complimentary headshots. More details about registration can be found at gov.texas.gov/events.

Additional summits are planned later in the year in Eagle Pass (September 11), Carthage (September 25), Dalhart (October 9), Denton with a focus on women (October 23), and Belton with a focus on veterans (November 13).

The Governor’s Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office along with the Office of Small Business Assistance also host online webinars for small businesses and entrepreneurs in Texas. On-demand recordings of these webinars are available at gov.texas.gov/business/page/small-business-webinars.
