Governor Greg Abbott has announced the reappointment of Amber Batson and the appointment of Dan Syphrett to the Gulf Coast Authority Board of Directors. Batson’s term will end on August 31, 2027, while Syphrett’s term is set to expire on August 31, 2026. The Gulf Coast Authority is responsible for providing water systems and managing water pollution and waste disposal in its district. The authority also conducts studies and research related to water pollution control and waste management.

Amber Batson, from Tomball, serves as a Project Manager and Associate Vice President at Carollo Engineers. She holds memberships in the Texas Water Association, the American Public Works Association, and the Water Environment Federation. Batson is licensed as a professional engineer by both the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors and the Florida Board of Professional Engineers. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida.

Dan Syphrett, who resides in Stowell, is retired after working as an electric utility manager. He participates in community activities through his involvement with the East Chambers Education Foundation Gala committee and the St. Louis Church Rice Ball Committee. Syphrett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University.

“The Gulf Coast Authority has the authority to provide water systems and control water pollution and waste disposal within the district. In addition, they shall conduct studies and research on the control of water pollution and waste disposal within the district,” according to Governor Abbott’s office.
