Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the City of Paris has achieved the status of a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community. This announcement follows the city’s completion of a rigorous training and certification process managed by the Texas Film Commission.
Governor Abbott stated, “Congratulations to the City of Paris on earning the Film Friendly Texas designation and joining more than 175 other Texas communities that have received this recognition.” He emphasized the benefits of the certification, noting the potential for job creation for Texas-based crew members and local residents, as well as increased spending at local businesses. Abbott extended his gratitude to the Texas Film Commission for their role in empowering communities like Paris to highlight their unique characteristics and foster local employment through media production.
State Representative Gary VanDeaver expressed pride in the achievement, saying, “This town has a lot of character, and we’re excited to share that with filmmakers looking for a place that feels both unique and inviting.”
Paris Mayor Mihir Pankaj described the city as an ideal filming location, mentioning its iconic landmarks such as the historic downtown and the local Eiffel Tower replica, which is topped with a red cowboy hat. “Paris is easily accessible from the DFW metroplex, and we look forward to sharing the magic of Paris as a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community,” said Mayor Pankaj.
City Manager Rose Beverly acknowledged the designation as a significant achievement, reflecting the community’s welcoming attitude and support for the creative industries. “We’re excited to share the unique charm of Paris, Texas, with the film and media world and look forward to the opportunities this recognition brings,” Beverly said.
The certification places Paris among over 175 communities in Texas recognized by the Texas Film Commission, which offers continued training and guidance on industry standards and best practices for on-location filming. The Texas Film Commission, part of the Governor’s Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office, has made a substantial economic impact, attracting more than $2.5 billion in local spending and creating over 189,000 production jobs in Texas from 2007 to 2024.
