Governor Greg Abbott announced the inclusion of Hamilton and Travis counties in President Donald J. Trump’s Major Disaster Declaration following recent flooding across Texas. This update is part of federal efforts to assist communities affected by the floods.
“I thank President Trump for swiftly adding Hamilton and Travis counties to his Major Disaster Declaration,” Governor Abbott stated. “Our federal partnership is key to help impacted communities in Hamilton and Travis counties and across the state receive crucial public assistance to recover and rebuild. Texans are resilient, and with the continued support at every level, we will overcome this devastation.”
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance program now covers Burnet, Coke, Concho, Hamilton, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis, and Williamson counties. The program provides aid for emergency work and repairs or replacements of disaster-damaged facilities. More counties may be added as further information becomes available.
Residents in Burnet, Kerr, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis, and Williamson can apply for FEMA’s Individual Assistance program through disasterassistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362. Additional assessments could expand eligibility to more areas.
Governor Abbott has been active in coordinating resources for local officials responding to the floods. Actions include requesting additional county inclusions in the disaster declaration; meeting with affected residents; updating state declarations; announcing SNAP hot food eligibility for 26 more counties; surveying damage with General Steven Nordhaus; securing funding through various programs; touring flood-damaged areas; launching a support line; directing response efforts; providing unemployment assistance related to flooding impacts; increasing readiness levels at the State Operations Center; activating emergency resources ahead of potential threats.
