Governor Greg Abbott has announced a Skills Development Fund grant exceeding $85,000 awarded to El Paso Community College by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). This grant aims to provide customized training for over 100 new and current workers at Bain Enterprises LLC in high-demand civil engineering occupations.
“To build a stronger, more prosperous Texas, we need to continue to make critical investments to our world-class workforce,” stated Governor Abbott. He emphasized the importance of expanding career training as an emergency item this legislative session. The grant is expected to equip more than 100 workers with the necessary skills for thriving in high-demand fields like civil engineering. “Working together, we will ensure better job and bigger paycheck opportunities for all Texans,” he added.
Bryan Daniel, TWC Chairman, remarked on the significance of Skills Development Fund grants: “Skills Development Fund grants help Texas businesses upskill the workforce to fill high-demand occupations.” He noted that the grant supports local workers’ efforts in pursuing careers in civil engineering.
The award was presented earlier today by TWC Commissioner Representing Labor Alberto Treviño III during a ceremony at El Paso Community College’s Administration Services Center. Representatives from El Paso Community College, Bain Enterprises LLC, and other local partners attended the event.
