WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Cornyn appeared on Newsmax’s National Report, promoting border security as President Trump’s significant achievement in his initial 100 days in office. Cornyn emphasized the importance of this issue in his remarks.
“I come from a state that has a 1,200-mile common border with Mexico,” Cornyn noted, highlighting Texas’s extensive border with Mexico as a critical factor.
The senator criticized the previous administration’s policies, referring to “the consequences of the Biden open-border policies” which he argued have spread issues such as “fentanyl, criminal gangs, other people who should not be in the United States coming in courtesy of the Biden administration.”
Cornyn praised Tom Homan, who he called the “border czar,” saying that “Tom Homan’s good work as the border czar and the actual enforcement of existing laws has really had a dramatic consequence.”
He also asserted that border enforcement has “sent a message to others that they should not come through this illegal means,” suggesting a deterrent effect on illegal immigration.
For Cornyn, this focus on border security represents “the singular success of the Trump first hundred days.”
