U.S. Senator John Cornyn has announced that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is initiating an investigation into the proposed development of EPIC City by the East Plano Islamic Center in Josephine, Texas. This action follows concerns raised by Senator Cornyn to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon.
Senator Cornyn expressed his appreciation for the DOJ’s decision, stating, “I am grateful to Attorney General Bondi and the Department of Justice for hearing my concerns and opening an investigation into the proposed EPIC City development in North Texas.” He emphasized that “religious discrimination and Sharia Law have no place in the Lone Star State,” adding that any breaches of federal law should be promptly addressed. He also expressed confidence that under the Trump administration, such violations would be prosecuted.
The investigation comes amid ongoing discussions about religious rights and community developments in Texas.
