Commerce Committee approves FAA nominee and advances five key bills

Today, the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation took significant steps by approving five bills and advancing the nomination of Bryan Bedford as Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration. Additionally, the committee voted to promote four Coast Guardsmen.

The approved legislation spans various aspects of the committee’s jurisdiction, including data privacy for children, sports regulations, space commerce, and economic development initiatives.

During the executive session, several actions were taken:

– The nomination of Bryan Bedford for FAA Administrator was approved with 15 yeas and 13 nays.

– S. 233, known as the Restoring Confidence in the World Anti-Doping Agency Act of 2025, was passed following amendments proposed by Blackburn.

– S. 254 or ARTIST Act received approval after modifications by Sullivan.

– S. 434 concerning Space Commerce Advisory Committee Act was passed with amendments from Peters-Wicker.

– S. 836 addressing Children and Teens’ Online Privacy Protection Act saw amendments from Cruz and Fetterman before passing under Markey’s guidance.

– S. 1872 titled Critical Infrastructure Manufacturing Feasibility Act was approved following amendments from Blunt Rochester under Ernst’s leadership.

In addition to these legislative measures, promotions within the Coast Guard were also confirmed during this session.
