The Press Office of Rep. Chip Roy, who represents Texas’ 21st district in the U.S. Congress, recently discussed educational and electoral issues via Twitter. Roy, who replaced Lamar Smith in 2019, has been actively voicing his opinions and initiatives on these matters.
On April 28, Rep. Chip Roy’s Press Office shared a tweet questioning the efficacy of the Department of Education since its establishment in 1980. According to the post, education costs and bureaucrats’ salaries have increased significantly, while student test scores have declined. The proposed solution is HR 899, a bill aiming to abolish the Department entirely.
Following this tweet, on April 28, the Press Office posted another tweet with a link for additional information supporting the initial stance on HR 899.
Continuing on the theme of legislative action, on April 29, Rep. Roy’s Press Office addressed electoral integrity. In the tweet, it was mentioned that an individual, identified as an illegal alien, was charged with unlawfully participating in U.S. elections. The tweet highlighted the necessity of the SAVE Act, championed by Rep. Roy, to ensure that “ONLY American elections are FOR American citizens,” urging its passage.
Chip Roy, born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972, has an educational background that includes a BS from the University of Virginia and a JD from the University of Texas-Austin. He currently resides in Austin, Texas.
