Rep. Chip Roy Press Office, through a series of tweets on May 15, 2025, shared opinions and criticisms regarding sanctuary policies, healthcare legislation, and Medicaid reform. Chip Roy is currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 21st district since replacing Lamar Smith in 2019.

In one tweet posted at 3:01 PM UTC, the office expressed concerns about sanctuary cities by stating that “Sanctuaries aren’t just DANGEROUS.” The tweet argued that these sanctuaries incur costs for taxpayers due to the resources required for ICE personnel to apprehend released criminal aliens.

At 3:02 PM UTC, another tweet criticized efforts to codify Obamacare expansion within what was referred to as the One, Big Beautiful Bill. Rep. Roy stated: “That’s not winning. We’ve got to change it. Republicans should do better.”

Later, at 3:38 PM UTC, Rep. Roy commented on perceived shortcomings in a current Medicaid reform proposal. He highlighted issues with work requirements saying, “The work requirements were basic. They don’t kick into 2029, they have waivers even once they kick in.”

Chip Roy has been an active member of Congress since 2019 and represents Texas’s 21st District. Born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 and now residing in Austin, he holds degrees from the University of Virginia and the University of Texas-Austin.
