Rep. Chip Roy, serving in the U.S. Congress for Texas’ 21st district since 2019, shared his views on fiscal and immigration policies through a series of tweets on May 7, 2025. Roy, born in Bethesda, Maryland, holds degrees from the University of Virginia and the University of Texas-Austin.
In a tweet posted at 11:37 AM, Rep. Roy emphasized fiscal responsibility by advocating to “Cut Spending,” “Shrink the Deficit,” “Cut Taxes,” “Reform Medicaid,” and repeal what he referred to as the “Green New Scam.” His message concluded with a call to action: “Lead.”
At 12:40 PM, Roy addressed immigration issues, noting that America’s foreign-born population had reached a record high of 53.3 million people, equating to 15% of the total population. He expressed concern over both legal and illegal immigration’s impact on cultural, fiscal, and economic matters.
Later in the day at 1:07 PM, Rep. Roy succinctly expressed his stance on criminal justice for immigrants with a two-word tweet: “Good.” He advocated for incarceration followed by deportation.
Chip Roy was born in Bethesda but now resides in Austin. He has been an active political figure since succeeding Lamar Smith in Congress.
