Rep. Chip Roy, currently serving Texas’s 21st district in the U.S. Congress, shared his views on social media regarding legal and healthcare issues facing the United States. Roy, who has been a congressman since 2019 after succeeding Lamar Smith, expressed his opinions through a series of tweets.
On January 21, 2025, Rep. Chip Roy questioned the disparity in detention policies between American citizens and illegal aliens. He tweeted: “If American citizens can be detained without bail when charged with a crime, why shouldn’t illegal aliens?”
The following day, January 22, 2025, he announced the release of “The Case for Healthcare Freedom,” a document aimed at guiding Congressional Republicans to collaborate with President Trump in addressing America’s health crisis. In his tweet, he stated: “BREAKING: ‘The Case for Healthcare Freedom lays out a detailed roadmap for how Congressional Republicans can help President Trump deliver on the promise to address America’s health crisis.'” (1/4)
Continuing on January 22, 2025, Rep. Roy argued against increasing power and funding to current actors in healthcare reform efforts. He advocated for “healthcare freedom” as a solution to budget control and healthcare spending issues. His message read: “Giving the same actors more power and money won’t work; if we want to Make America Healthy Again, the answer is healthcare freedom. If we want to control our budgets and healthcare spending, the answer is healthcare freedom.”
