Representative Chip Roy’s Press Office has released a series of tweets that address several concerns related to government spending, border security, and tax cuts. These communications reflect the views held by Representative Roy, who is serving in the U.S. Congress for Texas’s 21st district since 2019.
In a tweet dated April 30, 2025, at 14:23 UTC, the Press Office of Rep. Chip Roy commented on government spending over the past six years. According to the tweet, “Pre-COVID, the government spent $4.4 trillion. Six years later, we are spending $7 TRILLION.“
Another post on April 30, 2025, at 17:22 UTC quoted journalist Brianna Lyman stating that former President Trump had achieved significant success in immigration control. The tweet reads, “. @briannalyman2: ‘The fact remains that Trump shut down mass illegal immigration and sealed the border — and that alone makes these first one hundred days a generational victory.’ America is safer by the day thanks to EFFECTIVE border policies. “
Later on the same day, at 18:50 UTC, another statement criticized the notion that all tax cuts can offset their costs, implying that some require scrutiny. The tweet stated, “Not all tax cuts pay for themselves. The math does not math. The DC Swamp needs to do math.“
Chip Roy, 50, was born in Bethesda, Maryland, and currently lives in Austin, Texas. He is a University of Virginia Bachelor of Science graduate and also holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas-Austin.
