Rep. Chip Roy, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 21st district, recently addressed several issues through his press office’s social media platform. Roy, who succeeded Lamar Smith in 2019, has been vocal about Medicaid reform and law enforcement recognition.

On May 15, 2025, Rep. Chip Roy’s press office tweeted “Illegal aliens should NOT be receiving ANY Medicaid benefits – this is part of rooting out the WASTE, FRAUD, and ABUSE.” The statement emphasizes the need for Medicaid reform to eliminate wasteful spending and fraud.

In a subsequent tweet on the same day, “MORE: https://t.co/3MAfb6v1kD”, further information was provided through an external link.

Later that evening, Rep. Roy paid tribute to Monica Martinez of the Comal County Sheriff’s Office during National Police Week and ALS Awareness Month. He highlighted her dedication by stating “Monica served faithfully with the Comal County Sheriff’s Office for nearly a quarter of a century.” Unfortunately, Martinez passed away in 2023.

Born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 and now residing in Austin, Chip Roy holds degrees from the University of Virginia and the University of Texas-Austin.
