Rep. Chip Roy Press Office, representing Texas’ 21st district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of tweets on May 6, 2025, addressing various political issues. The tweets reflect Rep. Roy’s positions on House leadership, immigration enforcement, and Medicaid reform.

In a tweet posted at 15:51 UTC, Rep. Roy expressed his views on the origins and purpose of the House Freedom Caucus. He stated, “The House Freedom Caucus was born out of a frustration with overall House leadership and ensuring that there was ample participation by members of the entirety of the body, everybody having a voice and being able to try to shape what we’re doing,”.

At 16:31 UTC, another tweet highlighted his support for former President Trump’s immigration policies. He remarked on local law enforcement’s ability to collaborate with ICE under Trump’s administration compared to Biden’s presidency. He wrote, “Good. Joe Biden HANDCUFFED local law enforcement from backing up ICE. President Trump is giving police ANOTHER tool to identify and remove illegal aliens and other criminals from their communities.”

Later in the day at 17:55 UTC, Rep. Roy addressed concerns about Medicaid expansion attributed to Obamacare reforms. He stated, “It is no longer a program that is focused on the most vulnerable population and targeted and limited. It is now massively expanded. Why? Obamacare… we could save well over a trillion dollars if we do our job on Medicaid reform.”

Chip Roy has been serving as a U.S. Congressman since 2019 after replacing Lamar Smith. Born in Bethesda in 1972 and currently residing in Austin, he graduated from the University of Virginia with a BS in 1994 and earned his JD from the University of Texas-Austin in 2003.
