Ascension Seton Northwest earned a straight “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit focused on patient safety, according to a June 2 announcement. The grade is based on more than 22 performance measures reflecting preventable medical errors, infections and patient injuries, as well as the systems and protocols hospitals have in place to prevent them.

“We are proud of our team and the exceptional care they provide for our patients, every single day,” said Jamie Youssef, Chief Executive Officer of Ascension Texas. “This recognition by Leapfrog is an acknowledgment of our dedicated caregivers and their commitment to live out our mission of delivering safe, high-quality and compassionate care for all.”

Each year, Ascension establishes clinical priority goals that guide multidisciplinary teams in advancing system-wide initiatives. Through efforts to exceed these goals, the organization continues to strengthen the capabilities, processes and culture needed to deliver safe, high-quality care and improve access for the communities it serves.

“Our Ascension hospitals continually evaluate and strengthen our safety practices,” said Joshua Pozos, MD, MPH, Chief Clinical Officer for Ascension Texas. “Our teams are equipped with the tools, data and support to identify risk early, act quickly and continuously improve outcomes for our patients.”

Other Leapfrog-eligible Ascension Texas hospitals secured ‘B’ grades: Ascension Providence; Ascension Seton Cedar Park; Ascension Seton Hays; Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin; Ascension Seton Williamson; and Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade program publishes updated grades twice annually in fall and spring.
