The 98th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, presented by Truist, will take place from April 1 to April 4 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas, according to a March 18 announcement. Meet director Andrew Klingsporn said that 36 athletes have been accepted for the university and college decathlon and heptathlon fields.

The event is significant as it brings together top collegiate athletes for one of the most anticipated track and field meets of the season. The announcement highlighted the participation of Texas athletes, including sophomore Tabea Eitel, who recently finished 12th in the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships, and freshman Iana Ahetz-Etcheber in the heptathlon. Brock Lewis and Jonathan Hertwig-Odegaard will compete for Texas in the decathlon.

Texas Ex and two-time Texas Relays decathlon champion Leo Neugebauer holds the current meet record with a score of 8,708 points set in 2024. The women’s heptathlon record is held by Florida’s Anna Hall with a score of 6,412 points achieved in 2022.

The multi-events are scheduled to begin on April 1 with the women’s 100-meter hurdles at 10:30 a.m., followed by the men’s 110-meter hurdles at 11:00 a.m. Important upcoming dates include March 23 as the closing date for all other event entries on directathletics.com, March 26 for releasing initial lists of invitational qualifiers and opening declarations, March 28 as declaration deadline for invitational athletes, and March 31 when final competitors will be posted on TexasLonghorns.com.

As preparations continue for this year’s relays, organizers expect strong performances from returning champions and new contenders alike.
